Now Let’s Make Your PC Run Like New

We Recommend All PC Users Follow This:

Allow 5-10 minutes – Depending on your PC Speed

As you install new software you unknowingly give permission for all sorts of extra software to run alongside. Most of this ‘unwanted software’ is there for the benefit of the software maker & slows down your PC. We’re now going to show you how to disable this software without using any speed-up apps most of which also have a performance payload..

1. Uninstall Any PC Speed Up Software

If You are Running Speed up Software – Remove It:

PCSpeedUp
IOBIT Advanced Systen Care
Boot Speed
Tuneup Utilities
Advanced Widows Optimiser
Super Easy Boot Up
PC Optimiser
System Speed Up Pro
Perfect Speed
Tuneup 360
PC Tuner
Any Other PC Speed Up Software

Type ‘add or remove programs’ in your search & uninstall the software

2. Disable Needless Start-up Items (Win 7 & Vista)

Windows 7 & Vista Users:

config
Click ‘Start’ type ‘system’ in the windows search box & select ‘system configuration’

.
Click “start up” tab – resize startup & command colums so you can see details then uncheck anything that doesn’t need to run as your system starts.Your should keep enabled (if you are running):
Antivirus software
Dropbox(if you use)
Roboform (or other password management software if you use)

You can safely disable:
Acrotray
Skype or other messengers such as Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger (leave enabled if you use daily)
Adobe updater

Adobe CS Service Manager
Nvidia or ATI control panels
Webcam software
Any Printer Software
Torrent software
Quicktime
Adobe Flash Player
Mouse software
Anything Unknown
Apple Ipod Sevices
Itunes
Snagit
Adobe Reader
Any Audio Software
Any Wireless Management software

Click on apply & OK when you are finished – click on ‘Restart Later’ if prompted

There is no hard fast rules to this – you won’t damage your system if you uncheck something you shouldn’t – this is just software that starts with your windows so the less the better – the only one that’s necessary is antivirus. I usually disable everything other than antivirus, password storing apps, dropbox & skype. Remember the software you need will still start when you click the application – it doesn’t need to be running in the background unless you use it all the time.

2. Disable Needless Start-up Items (Windows 8)

Windows 8 Users – Move Mouse to Top Right in Apps Screen & Click Search

Type ‘msconfig’ in the windows search box & select ‘msconfig’

Click on ‘Startup’ Tab & click on ‘Open Task Manager’

.
Click “start up” tab – Now you can disable any software you don’t want starting with your windows by highlighing it and clicking disableYour should keep enabled (if you are running):
Antivirus software
Dropbox(if you use)
Roboform (or other password management software if you use)

You can safely disable:
Acrotray
Skype or other messengers such as Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger as these rub as apps in win 8
Adobe updater
Adobe CS Service Manager
Nvidia or ATI control panels
Webcam software
Any Printer Software
Torrent software
Quicktime
Adobe Flash Player
Mouse software
Anything Unknown
Apple Ipod Sevices
Itunes
Snagit
Adobe Reader
Any Audio Software
Any Wireless Management software

Click on ‘Restart Later’ if prompted

I usually disable everything other than antivirus, password storing apps, dropbox & skype. Remember the software you need will still start when you click the application – it doesn’t need to be running in the background unless you use it all the time.

3. Disable Pointless Services

All Windows Users:

.
Now switch to the services tab of System Configuration window and select the ‘Services’ tab – IMPORTANTcheck the hide all microsoft services (if you don’t you will cause problems) – and click status to sort all services by ‘running’ first. These are all the surplus services that are running over and above the windows default services

Your should keep enabled (if you are running):
Antivirus/Security
Audio
Graphics/Display
Wireless
Security
Licensing
WLAN
Apple/Ipod

You can safely disable:
Bluetooth (unless you use)
Google Update
Mozilla Maintenance
Nvidia Ntune
Any updater Service
Adobe Flash
Vmware

Click on apply & OK when you are finished – click on ‘Restart Later’ if prompted

You need to be a little more careful with this section – if you follow the rules above you can’t go wrong. Worst case scenario is If a piece of software you’ve installed stops working – then you can either reinstall it or re-enable the service..

4. Set Search Service to Manual

This service was designed to speed up search by contantly constructing an index bit like a librarian – this has a big speed payload especially on older systems & systems with loads of files. We’re now going to tell windows to start this as & when needed rather than always on

Windows 7 & Vista Users

Click start & type ‘services’ in the windows search box & select ‘services’

Windows 8 Users – Move Mouse to Top Right in Apps Screen & Click Search

Type ‘services’ in the windows search box & select ‘view local services’

What You’ll See:

Find ‘Windows Search’ service & double click it.

.
Set the Startup type to manual then click on stop service, once stopped click on Apply & OK5. Turn Off Redundant Windows Features

By default windows installs components which most of us will never use – these services don’t need to running.

Windows 7 & Vista Users

1. Type ‘Windows Feature’ in search box & select ‘Turn Windows features on or off’

2. Uncheck ‘XPS Services’ & ‘XPS Viewer’ you may get a warning – ignore it.

Windows 8 Users – Move Mouse to Top Right in Apps Screen & Click Search

1. Type ‘Windows Feature’ in search box & select ‘Turn Windows features on or off’

.
2. Uncheck ‘XPS Services’ & ‘XPS Viewer’ also recommend unchecking ‘Windows Location Provider’ if you wish not to send your location to any software that asks for it.

Now Reboot Your PC – It will Boot up & run like new

That’s it for PC Speed up – We recommendd you run a Services & Start-up items cleanup every 6 months
