Tagged Email is something I did not know about and I am always learning new things in my Internet career however many have limited use. As I have been doing this for 20 years it is rare I find something useful but this one is truly a time saver.

Today we look at Tagged Email

Let me give it to you right now with no smoke and mirrors.

Add a + to your email name eg. myemail+businessnewsletter@gmail.com.

Now this will go to  my email address myemail@gmail.com with the Tagged Email “businessnewsletter” which means I can now receive mail from where I subscribed, filter them out, see if the site sells my email address and many other uses. Tagged Email gives you a lot more scope and control over your emails

Here’s another example of Tagged Email:

You purchase a product or service online. Or maybe you purchase a product in a store, and then register the product online. If you give them a Tagged Email address, where the tag is unique to them (for example, the name of the company), then if you get email to that Tagged Email address from anyone who is not that company, it means that the third-party somehow acquired your address from the original company.

You can do this because, and here’s the thing that lots of folks don’t know (and there is really no reason that they would or should know it): many, if not most, email systems will simply ignore the + symbol and anything that comes after it.

Another benefit of using a tagged address is that if it starts getting too much spam, you can simply create a filter to silently discard email to that tagged address, while not affecting your primary, actual Gmail address.

Track/Block spammers

When signing up for some website, say thatwebsite.com, you can add thatwebsite to your Gmail user ID (eg. GeorgeBush+thatwebsite@gmail.com). This way you can block your subscription whenever you want and even identify those websites that distribute your email address to spammers.

So just check your email system first and take control of your emails. For more great tutorials come look at our program
